Vehicle Description
1969 Ford Mustang Convertible. This car is basically a new car with an old body shell on it……well maybe not all the way, but what you have here is a classic body shape with all the right options that handles like a modern sports car and goes like stink.
The paint on this car is several years old, but still shines very well and only has minimal small rock chips up around the front. Don’t expect a perfect paint job, but know that you can be proud of this car wherever you drive it……and I do emphasize that you will want to drive it and not put it on a trailer. The paint scheme is Acapulco Blue with a Tungsten colored hood in the Mach 1 / Boss scheme. The hood scoop contains the turn signals and they do work. The interior is very nice and has all the components of a high-back deluxe setup including comfort-weave seats, deluxe door panels and a console with a Shelby style lid. The console contains Autometer Tachometer and Water Temperature instruments.
For Power, you’ve got a 408c.i. Keith Craft Stroker 351W that makes over 400 Rear Wheel Horsepower with no power adders. A fuel injection system with a Ford A9L computer makes it very easy starting and very reliable without the hassles of a carburetor/choke combination. One turn of the key in the coldest of weather and it comes to life. Other specs on the engine are: complete roller valvetrain, aluminum water pump, Victor Jr intake customized to handle the fuel injectors, Ford Powertrain Step Headers feeding into a 2 1/2″ exhaust system with electrically operated header dumps. Ron Morris motor mounts hold the engine in the proper position for a good pinion angle on a car that has been lowered substantially. The rear end in the car is a 9″ Ford with 31 Spline Mosier axles.
The engine is cooled by a Griffin aluminum radiator and twin electric fans operated by a thermostat. Vintage Auto Air handles the cooling of the passenger compartment and also provides a new heater box so whatever the temperature, you can stay comfortable inside.
Wheels (rest in peace Boyd) are custom offset F09 Boyd Coddington pieces and are 18 x 9 and 18 x 8 inchers. All of the rubber on this car is tucked up under the fenderwells and there is no rubbing whatsoever. I don’t think you will find a ‘69 Mustang with 285 rear and 245 front rubber that fits this nicely. The tires are Nitto and I have the street radials as well as a pair of Nitto drag radials for the back. Currently, the drag radials are mounted. With these, you have no trouble with this car hooking up.
Braking is handled exclusively by Baer Brakes. Massive 14″, 6 piston calipers in front and 13″ in the rear. Rear brakes incorporate a working parking brake system that is cable operated. This car has excellent braking capability and you won’t be disappointed that I spent a lot of money in this department.
The white convertible top is almost new and fits very well. The window glass in the car is excellent and I have spent many hours trying to align them as best as possible. All of the window glass is the factory Ford a/c tinted variety.
The interior also features restored factory gauges and a Ford authorized remanufactured dash pad. A Grant real wood wheel with Mustang center is mounted on the car, and I do have a deluxe rim-blow wheel that can be included if my reserve price is met.
The stereo in this car is fantastic. I started out by putting DynaMat throughout the entire shell of the car to seal out road noise and create a basis for the stereo. A head unit that is also capable of not only playing your ipod, but charging it and controlling it through the remote control is tastefully built into the stock dash area. It plays CD’s, MP3’s etc as well. Speakers are all Focal and there are 2 front door, 2 rear seat area and 2 subs. There are 2 JL Audio amps in the trunk that make the stereo clear and loud enough to hear even at speed with the top down.
Stam-bar front and rear sway bars help keep the car flat around the corners along with the big tires and the suspension is lowered by relocating the front control arms, progressive rate front springs and reverse eye rear leaf springs. The battery is relocated to the trunk and sits in a Taylor box with remote cut-off. The steering is handled by an RRS (Australian) rack-and-pinion unit.
I could go on and on and on over the things that are included with this car, but you’ll get tired of reading about it. If you are truly interested in this car, I will be happy to provide you with a phone number and we can discuss it over the phone. This car was built to drive and enjoy and not to just sit in the garage.
The things about the car that I feel I must mention that are less than perfect are:
1) there are some small rock chips in the paint on the front apron and behind the rear tires. Nothing big.
2) the rear main seal leaks a bit and has since the engine was new. The engine does not burn any oil and is very solid.
3) the stereo subwoofer box in the trunk could look better if you simply took it out and put new carpet covering on it.
I am realistic in my pricing on this Mustang and I am aware that the market has softened this past year. If you compare this car to one of the cars that was built by that now defunct company, you will be able to own a faster, better handling car for a fraction of their price. If you want to make a run at a buy-it-now on the car, please contact me and if we make a deal, I’ll put one on the auction and you can push the button.
I can assist in any way with shipping and I have worked with a shipper that I really trust to take care of a car. I use them to transport motorcycles all the time and they do a great job.
I’ve included several photos of the car in this listing, but you can click on this link to see more: http://www.marblesmotors.com/Stang69.htm
Contact me via e-mail for more information. Thanks for looking, bidding and buying. Please don’t wait to bid on this car as it just isn’t any fun that way.
Thanks
